CAMP CHATTERBOX! is a unique social camp for children. Our own Speech-Language Pathologists created the curriculum with one goal in mind...success for our clients with social skills challenges.

Camp Chatterbox Summer 2003 Our campers are children, 3 to 18 years of age, with the following diagnoses:
  • Apraxia of Speech
  • Autism
  • Developmental Disability
  • Dysarthria
  • Language Disorder
  • Oral Motor Dysfunction
  • Pervasive Developmental Disorder
  • Pragmatic Language Disorder

Campers are age-matched into groups of four to six children. Our curriculum addresses social skills that are critical for children's success in school, at play and within the community.

Our camp leaders closely supervise each camper's progress through the program. Our small group environment allows for maximum one-to-one instruction.

Camp topics include:

  • Greetings & Introductions
  • Establishing & Maintaining Friendships
  • Conversation With Peers
  • Feelings & Emotions
  • Conflict Management
  • Meal-time Behavior & Conversation
  • Emergency Situations
  • Using the Telephone
  • Community Living Skills (Topics may vary depending upon the age of the participants.)

CAMP CHATTERBOX! has a maximum capacity of 6 children per program. When our capacity is reached, enrollment is closed. Camp Chatterbox is a summer camp program.

CAMP CHATTERBOX! provides:
  • A warm, happy, supportive environment for children to learn and gain social independence.
  • Fun, fun, fun! Your child won't even realize they are learning.
  • Maximum opportunities for each child to practice critical social skills and to experience success.
  • Increased self-esteem.
  • New friendships.

We are proud to report that our original program has helped our clients in their everyday lives! We could not have asked for more! One parent reports:

"Before Ethan started CAMP CHATTERBOX! he lacked some necessary social skills. Since enrolling in camp he has learned to take turns in a conversation. He now looks at and listens to the person he is talking with. He makes jokes and can initiate conversation! This camp has been such a positive experience for him!" (Sarah, Mother of Ethan, age 6, PDD)
